Haray Sports is led by Erica Haray, MS, CHES, an experienced athletic coach, health educator, and athlete.
Erica has coached over 25 seasons of basketball and tennis at three NYS school districts and for U.S. Army Youth Sports. She also coached one (very unfortunate) season of t-ball. She is currently a Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis Coach in the Southern Tier, and has earned the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Coach Levels 1, 2, & 3 Certifications.
Erica is also a health educator and teaches health for the State University of New York (SUNY). She’s a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) and a Certified Wellness Program Coordinator through the National Wellness Institute.
She earned a Bachelors Degree in Business from Elizabethtown College, a Masters Degree in Community Health from SUNY Cortland, and a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell. She served on the Tioga County Board of Health from 2017-22, and on the Consumer Advisory Board of the Jacobus Center for the Cortland County Health Department from 2010-11.
She has also been an athlete her entire life. She grew up playing basketball, CYO baseball (softball wasn’t available at the time), whiffle ball with her older brother and his friends, and any other activity she could join in. She was a three sport athlete throughout her high school athletic career (tennis, basketball, & track), and continued playing tennis while an undergraduate at Elizabethtown, where her team won the NCAA MAC Team Championship. She continues to play competitive tennis through USTA Adult Leagues and is a member of her local tennis club. When she’s not coaching, teaching, walking her dogs, or fielding demands from her cats, you’ll likely find her playing tennis.
Erica has combined her experience and education as an athletic coach and health educator, with evidence-based best practices in the field of educational sport psychology, to help athletes improve their performance and overall well-being. She knows first hand the pressures that accompany athletic performance, especially in the digital age, and the challenges coaches face in trying to prepare their players. There is only so much time, and to be honest, there’s also very little training for coaches related to mental performance skills. She also understands first hand as an athlete what it takes to recover from injury and illness, and how to get back to the game you love so much.
Erica is passionate about empowering teenagers and young adults through athletics and health education, and enjoys helping middle school through adult athletes, throughout the Southern Tier and beyond, perform and feel better.
